Job Overview:


We are seeking a strategic and experienced Deputy Chief Technology Officer (Deputy CTO) to play a pivotal role in leading our project management efforts and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software applications and services. This position will oversee software development processes, aligning them with the organization's broader engineering and technology strategies. The Deputy CTO will directly manage teams, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and meet established quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Strategic Leadership:


  • Collaborate with the CTO to develop departmental plans and strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Periodically review the strategic plan for the technology sector to ensure alignment with company growth and market trends.
  • Establish operational policies and procedures that drive high-quality product and service delivery.


2. Project Management:

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of multiple technology projects, ensuring they meet business needs.
  • Set software development schedules, prepare necessary documentation, and manage resources and budgets effectively.
  • Implement a project controlling mechanism and prepare regular reports on project status and progress.


3. Team Management:


  • Manage a team of software developers, project managers, and IT professionals, providing mentorship and guidance to optimize performance.
  • Establish performance metrics for teams using SMART goals and provide constructive feedback and coaching for improvement.
  • Cultivate a collaborative team culture that promotes knowledge sharing and motivates personnel to deliver innovative solutions.


4. Quality Assurance and Relationship Management:


  • Ensure adherence to quality standards by monitoring projects and evaluating the performance of all team deliverables.
  • Collaborate with product vendors, architects, and business units to translate business requirements into actionable tasks.
  • Evaluate the work of external service providers and manage vendor relationships to maximize value.


5. Resource Allocation:


  • Analyze resource requirements for each project and utilize resources (staff, materials, technologies) effectively and efficiently.
  • Forecast annual revenue targets from technology projects and align with stakeholder interests.
  • Design and optimize systems and processes for effective resource and material management.


6. Financial Oversight:


  • Prepare departmental budgets and control cash flow, ensuring alignment with project needs and organizational goals.
  • Examine cost breakdowns, identify direct and indirect costs of projects, and develop cost minimization strategies.


7. Continuous Improvement:


  • Promote a culture of design excellence, quality, collaboration, and responsiveness within the software engineering team.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends that can be leveraged to improve business processes and deliverables.
  • Develop software project evaluation and monitoring criteria to assess project effectiveness and implement learnings.


8. Stakeholder Communication:


  • Serve as a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding technology project status and deliverables.
  • Prepare and present departmental reports and updates to the CTO and other executive management.



Main Focus Areas:


1. Client Management: Ensure client satisfaction through effective communication, timely updates, and addressing concerns proactively.


2. Project Delivery: Guarantee projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality expectations.


3. Innovation: Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging teams to explore new technologies and methodologies.


4. Collaboration: Promote teamwork across departments to enhance project outcomes and drive efficiency.


5. Leadership: Provide strong leadership to motivate teams, instill a sense of ownership, and drive accountability for results.


6. Execution: Act as the Project Management Office (PMO) manager to ensure the structured execution of projects across the organization.


Qualifications:


  • Proven experience in a technology leadership role, preferably as a Deputy CTO or similar position.
  • Strong background in software development, project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum), and quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a track record of managing cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies, AI, BI tools, smart ERP systems, and custom software development practices.
